M98

Updated: 6.1.05

M98 is an often forgotten galaxy when it comes to imaging, but is a beautiful nearly edge-on galaxy in Coma Berenices that is part of the Virgo Cluster. It is of mag 10,8 and 9.7'x2.7' size. The small and bright galaxy to the lower right is NGC4186 (mag 14.7) and the larger onein the upper right is mag 15.6 UGC7223. A number of mag 17 to 20 galaxies dot the background. This image was taken at Chiefland during the Spring Party.
