M42

M42 is the famous Orion Nebula located in the sword region. At magnitude 4 and 66' across, this is an imposing object and is as beautiful to look at visually as it is to image. This was the first light image testing the capabilities of a new homebuilt 10" f/4 Newtonian with Paracorr (effective f/4.5). Good star focus and flat field can be seen from this full sized version (no resize or cropping). Image was taken at Chiefland during the Fall Star Party.
