Updated: 6.29.02

M106 lies in the constellatin of Canes Venatici and is a large, impressive galaxy. The 2 images were taken in Norwich, N.Y. while on vacation. The first was imaged at f/2.5 and processed to show the fainter outer spiral regions.

The second was taken at f/4.0 and highlights the core with less saturation at the center. The small galaxy to the bottom right of the top image is NGC4248. The dark skies of rural Norwich were excellent, with limiting mag of >6, helping to contribute much to the image.
