M101 |

M101, is one of the largest galaxies in the northern sky with a size of 28.6' x 26.5' and exceeds the fov of the H9C chip in the 10" Newt at f/4. It is also very bright at mag 7.92 but has a very low surface brightness, especially in the outer arms. It resides in the constellation of Ursa Major, by the end of the handle. This image was taken at Chiefland during the CFAS Astrofest with the club's TEC 140mm APO refractor. |
