M100 is a magnificent example
of a face-on galaxy, located in Coma Berenices. It is fairly large, at
7' x 6' and bright at 9.3 magnitude. Even though it is located in Coma
Berenices, it belongs to the Virgo Cluster of galaxies! Quite a few fainter
galaxies are scattered throughout the background of this shot. This shot
was taken during the Chiefland Spring Star Party.
